50ft (16.77m) all-steel cruiser stern narrowboat. Built 1994 by Liverpool Boats. Original fitout by Northern Marine.
She is currently moored close to Central Birmingham and there is an opportunity to apply for Mooring at the current site.
This is a lovely boat that has been lovingly updated (see full service and modification history below) and which has been a comfortable home for 3 years now. It will be much missed:
General
�Calico� is designed as a very practical live-aboard boat at an entry-level price, with a well planned fit-out and 4-berth accommodation.
The boat has a current BW Boat Safety Certificate (expiring mid-2010) and a long BW cruising licence/mooring license.
Currently moored in Central Birmingham
Accommodation
Bedroom: Fixed double bed. Cupboard overhead. Drawers beneath. Built-in wardrobe.
Bathroom: Thetford cassette toilet system, Shower with auto waste-water pump out, handwash sink vanity unit.
Galley: Laminate work surface over base units containing built-in oven; Valor Vanette inset 4-burner hob, recently replaced (2007); stainless steel sink and drainer, cupboards under; 240v. fridge (Very Economical). Side hatch.
Saloon: Recently made and fitted settee and storage unit with comfortable dense-foam hight-quality cushion seating which converts into a double bed. Recently refurbished (2006) multi-fuel Squirrel Stove on tiled hearth. Folding table and chairs.
Good Storage throughout. Light and spacious feel to fit-out.
Hull and steelwork
Hull specification 8/6/4mm steel. Built in 1994 by John White of Liverpool Boats. Cruiser-style back deck with rear safety deck-rails and handrails to roof. Offset rear access door, down 2 steps. Side doors with top hatch. Original internal fitout by Northern Marine.
Boat systems
Propulsion: 1.4 litre 33bhp (economical) Beta Marine diesel engine, regularly serviced, with new glow plugs. Fitted with a Hurth gearbox (rebuilt 2008). The rubber engine mounts have been replaced (2006). Morse control gear having a recently replaced throttle linkage system.
Electrical: Newly fitted high-output alternator (nominal rating 90 amp). Also newly fitted Sterling alternator-output amplifier/regulator. Battery bank of one starter battery and three 110 amp deep-cycle leisure batteries (replaced 2007). Battery switchover by manual switch. A 240v AC socket is fitted for a shoreline, with RCD protection to the circuit. An Ampower 1.5kw charger/inverter unit provides 240v AC when touring. There are 12v DC and 240v AC sockets throughout boat.
Lighting:12v internal lighting. Also tunnel lights and navigation lights.
Heating: An Eberspacher diesel hot-water heating unit serves the radiators in the bedroom, shower room and saloon, and provides domestic hot water via a calorifier. A newly fitted Eberspacher timer clock controls the timing of the heating. The engine will also heat water via the calorifier when running. There is additional heating in the saloon from a Morso Squirrel cast-iron stove.
Water supply:12 volt pumped supply on demand from the stainless steel water tank under the front deck well. Hot water is supplied from the calorifier.
Cooking: LPG gas oven and hob. 2 LPG 13kg bottles in front hatch.
Additional information
There have been continual improvements from the original specification. All systems have been serviced or updated as appropriate. The boat was recently repainted (2007) in boat enamel. The interior has been lined out in attractive pine T&G boarding and ash panels with applied �limewash� effect. Rockwool insulation. Wood-effect laminate flooring.
Windows: 8 large and 1 small anodised aluminium framed windows with top hopper-style vents. Sealing replaced recently. Front: half-glazed doors.
Hull last blacked in February 2007.
Chimney replaced.
Additional equipment
Front cratch frame and cover. Rear cover for cruiser deck. Long 240v shoreline lead. Hose reel.
